Note to Self: Wabi Sabi

✏️Note to self! “Things can be perfectly imperfect! .
.
➰ I guess I must be challenged by perfection somehow that I have started to have “wabi sabi” in my mind these days. May be it is just to justify my imperfectness ( is this even a word?) That’s a possibility sure. Ha haa... .
.
➰The first time I questioned perfection was the time when Martha Stewart asked me to divide strawberries into three categories on set for a phoot shoot during my styling job.
.
1. Perfect ones, 2. Perfect perfect ones, 3. Perfect perfect perfect ones. .
.
➰That moment I just wanted to walk out of the set, out of famous 601 building, out of New York City, out of the universe! They were already perfect. All of them. I love Martha and learned so much from her; but especially this experience had a huge impact on me. May be that was the moment when I started to develop my own style of wabi sabi without knowing that it already exists in Japan as an approach to art, beauty and life.
.
➰At this photography work I love how plates are off centered, how surface is uneven, how chopsticks are not so matching but overall how the photo looks stunning as it is. Love it. .
.
. ➰ Now it is time to apply same approach towards my life and myself with everything I do; with full acceptance. Well It is super hard; since I love NEW. I love opening new doors, love traveling and experiencing NEW, starting NEW, admiring NEW! If I can’t silence the chatter in my head who keeps talking and saying this copy I just wrote can be better, post can be better, this and that... It will be harder. .
.
➰But I am trying...I am taking new actions, taking new paths. Making mistakes. Adjusting each time. Yes trying in my own messy way. Who else is out there struggling with perfection and self acceptance? 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♂️ D.
